View of a section of wrought-iron railings outside Astor House, 2 Temple Place, Temple. The metalwork was designed by J. Starkie Gardner and is set within blocks of Portland stone. There are hanging plants in view. The house was built in 1895 by J. L. Pearson for the wealthy American businessman William Waldorf Astor, as his London home and office. Astor House is Grade II* listed, listing number 1234514. The railings are also Grade II* listed, listing number 1066232. The building today is known as the Incorporated Accounts Hall, where exhibitions of public works of art are held.
