View of courtyard and stone staircase with iron railings at Bloomfield Buildings, Bloomfield Place, Mayfair, at the corner of Bourdon Street. These artisans' dwellings were erected by the builder John Newson around 1858 and named after his wife's maiden name. The building provided for twenty-eight families with an average rent of about 4s 6d per week. These were an important example of the working-class dwellings movement.
