Description
View of shop fronts and block of flats on Tooting High Street, Tooting. The newly built block of flats named Marion Court on the junction of Tooting High Street and Recovery Street. There are six shops, five of which are still boarded up with 'Shop To Let' signs, and the fifth is a grocer's shop named Bloom. Next to the shop is the entrance to the flats, with a sign above reading 'Show Flat and Letting Office'. There is a large sign on the right-hand shop advertising the flats to rent. On the side elevation of Marion Court is the street sign for Recovery Street. In the centre of Tooting High Street is a cobbled area with tramway tracks. The building on the far left of the image is Trafalgar Arms public house. This building still exits, but the shops have been modernised and extended forward.
