View of shop fronts at 47-65 Tooting High Street, Tooting, looking south-west. A number of trams are moving north-west up the street, including one terminating at Charing Cross and going via Westminster. A crowd of people appear to be rushing to get on a tram just passing the photographer. The rest of the street is filled with pedestrians, including a number of men wearing bowler hats and flat caps, and a group of women in hats stood outside number 51. The shop on the left at number 47 is Sam Isaacs Ltd, a fish restaurant advertising 'stewed and jellied eels'. The vacant or closed shop at number 49 was previously John Perry & Son, a pawnbroker's shop. The hanging sign in the distance advertises L G & North Hants Dairy Co Ltd at number 55. Some of these buildings survive, but have modernised shop fronts.
