Description
A view of the corner of Margaret Street and Marylebone Passage. An elevated stone relief sculpture of Jesus on the Cross with the figures of Virgin Mary and St. John can be seen. This is the corner of Numbers 82-83, Margaret Street, the site of All Saints House and Convent chapel, built in 1860 by G.E. Street. They are stock brick gothic buildings have vitreous patterning and stone dressing. This convent was built for the Anglican religious community The Society of All Saints Sisters of the Poor (ASSP), founded in 1851 Harriet Brownlow Byron, Mother Foundress. This was one of the first Anglican orders for women at Margaret Street, London, and had the support of William Upton Richards, first Vicar of All Saints. These buildings are Grade II listed, listing number 1239535.
