Description
Illustration from “Cripplegate Ward” by J.J. Baddeley (1921), showing view of Fore Street, City of London, looking west. Just out of view to the right is the junction with Fore Street Avenue, which ran north and then west, joining Moor Lane. The turning into Moor Lane is to the right of the more distant horse and cart. Baddeley records that the buildings in the foreground on the left were occupied by Messrs Stapley & Smith, manufacturers of foundation and undergarments, John Russell’s and McIntyre, Hogg, Marsh & Co, shirtmakers, whose premises occupied the corner on the junction with New Basinghall Street. People and traffic in view.
