Chislehurst Road is in a high quality residential area developed on Richmond Hill after the arrival of the railway serving Richmond in 1856, which now lies within the St Matthias conservation area of Richmond-upon-Thames. Its buildings comprise a number of mainly semi-detached mid to late Victorian villas of similar style and grandeur, retaining much of their original appearance and all being listed as Buildings of Townscape Merit. This view shows the pair of villas at numbers 14 and 16. The extension to the side of number 16 may be original as this is the end property of the row, which adjoins the gardens of similar villas in Mount Ararat Road. The back of a Mini can also be seen parked in number 16's driveway.
