Description
View of The Lodge on the corner of Hillingdon Road and Park Road, Uxbridge. This detached, two-storey, nineteenth-century gatehouse formed part of the original entrance to the Hillingdon House Estate. From 1915 the estate was used by the Royal Flying Corps and later The Lodge formed part of the official entrance to RAF Uxbridge. The building is fronted by a low-level brick wall with decorative centre openings. There is a detached felt-roofed garage in view together with a directional sign saying, "ENTRANCE BATHING POOL". The reverse of a rectangular information sign can be seen, supported by two black and white poles. The Lodge is no longer in existence and the former RAF Uxbridge site has since been replaced by modern housing.
