Description
Derelict oil works in Leading Street, Shadwell, looking north. An outer wall and several sheds are visible as well as two tall square chimneys. In front of the factory is wasteground with litter on it. Behind the factory, the backs of houses in Middle Shadwell can be seen. On the right are a derelict outhouse and houses in Broad Bridge and an adult and child are walking from Broad Bridge into Leading Street. The oil works no longer exists; the site is now part of the King Edward VII Memorial Park, which was Shadwell’s first park, opened in 1922.
