Description
Swears and Wells Ltd at the corner of 236-240 Oxford Circus and Regent Street, Westminster. The shop was an outfitters, hosiers, furriers and sold gloves. Thomas William Wells was in partnership with Frederick Swears and his two brothers until Thomas Wells retired in 1884. Acquired in 1970 by United Drapery Stores, it later became an H&M store. Striped awnings with the brand name span the corner. Some mannequins can be seen in the window of 'Smartwear' and shoppers are on the street. Also visible are a Thomas Glenister Ltd goods van, a 715 coach to Guildford, a bus, car and a telephone box. A policeman directs traffic.
