The Noble Collection was purchased by Guildhall Library in 1890 as a collection of ‘scraps and cuttings’ gathered by Theophilus Charles Noble (1840-90), an author and antiquarian. Over the course of more than a century the collection has been added to and has expanded to comprise 446 boxes. The items on the London Picture Archive represent a small selection of small engravings, magazine and newspaper cuttings, advertisements, tickets and notices, notes and antiquarian jottings. The topographical and subject contents of the boxes can be found on the LMA Collections Catalogue.
